Think about the square footage, and then how big you want each room to be. Consider the dimensions of your biggest pieces of furniture, too. This will help you describe and instruct the architect on how to design your home.

Some people are hardcore colonial style enthusiasts. Others really want a very modern look. A lot of people tend to be eclectic in their tastes. Talk to the architect about what you like, what interests you, what fascinates you when you see a house or building, and what you definitely want incorporated into the design of your home.
