Why It's Often Wise To Rent A Two-Bedroom Apartment As A Single Person

Posted on: 28 April 2022

As a single person, you really only need one bedroom to sleep in. But that does not necessarily mean you need to rent a one-bedroom apartment. In fact, many single people find that they are better off renting a two-bedroom apartment. Here are some reasons why this is such a wise choice.

Your friends will have somewhere to sleep.

When you are single, especially if you are young, you tend to spend a lot of time with your friends. They may come over and enjoy a few drinks with you now and then. Sometimes, it may be safest for them to then stay overnight in your apartment so they don't have to drive home. If you have a second bedroom, there will be no question as to where they can stay. They'll appreciate having their own space. They may even be more likely to stay if they know you have a bedroom for them and not just a couch.

You will have more storage space.

The average one-bedroom apartment does not have very much space for storage. Thus, apartment dwellers often end up renting storage units and storage pods to house their extra things. Why house your extra things off-site when you can instead rent a two-bedroom apartment and have storage space at home? This way, your items will be easier to access, and you won't have to remember to pay a separate bill to the storage center.

You can take on a roommate if needed.

Right now, you may be able to afford rent on your own. But if you were to lose your job or suffer a reduction in income, you may find yourself short on funds. If you have a two-bedroom apartment, you can always clear out that extra bedroom and take in a roommate. They can cover half the rent, bringing your expenses way down. It's nice to know you always have this option.

Two-bedroom units are often larger.

Most two-bedroom apartments are larger than one-bedroom apartments, and not only because of the additional bedroom. The living room, hallway, and bathroom also tend to be more spacious. This can give you a little extra room to spread out, which is really nice, even when you're single.

While some single people thrive in one-bedroom apartments, a two-bedroom apartment is often an equally good choice. It is nice to have room for friends and storage, and it's good to know you can take in a roommate if needed.
